Dr. Mark J. Twery is a Research Forester and Project Leader with the USDA Forest Service, Northeastern Research Station. He works in Burlington, VT, where he leads a unit entitled "Integrating Social and Biophysical Sciences for Natural Resource Management". He has worked for the Forest Service since 1988, first in Morgantown, WV, and in Burlington since 1994. His primary personal research focus is NED, a set of decision-support tools for forest management for multiple benefits. Other research interests include urban and community forestry, hardwood silviculture, biotic disturbances, and public involvement in National Forest planning. Twery has a B.A. in Theater Arts from Oberlin College, an M.S. in Forest Ecology from the University of Massachusetts, and a Ph.D. in Silviculture from Yale University.
