Martha Tyson

Martha M. Tyson is author of The Healing Landscape: Therapeutic Outdoor Environments, and lectures on design process and healing gardens. Her person-centered philosophy applies classic design theory, including principles of feng shui, and the study of human behavior to the process of creating restorative outdoor places that heal mind, body and spirit. Tyson works as a Design Consultant on projects that include: master planning and site design for acute-care hospitals; ambulatory care centers, wellness centers, assisted living communities, Alzheimer's care residences and rehabilitation hospitals. She received her Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 1987 and a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Behavior Studies at the University of Illinois in 1992.
